About

Franklin County Quilt Trail in Northeast Georgia was begun in 2011 – Volunteers in the City of Lavonia initiated the project after seeing other communities on various web sites.  After much research, a Lavonia Chamber of Commerce committee was formed and other communities in the county were invited to participate.

The City of Royston, Georgia put up the first square in March which was a 2 x 2 pattern on their Welcome Center and in April they added another s x 2 at their Depot.   Then in April 2011 the City of Lavonia hung four, 4 x 4 foot squares and a month later they hung 5 more – one an 8 x 8 foot.  Pictures of the Lavonia Squares can be found in some of the blogs.  There is continued enthusiasm after seeing this beautiful art work appear in the city and countryside so that more will be coming in the future.

We’re excited to become a part of the Barn and American Quilt Trail that runs through 29 states!  Come visit us in Lavonia, Georgia - located in Northesast Georgia just four miles from the South Carolina line ( and beautiful Lake Hartwell) on Interstate 85 North, Exit 173.
